Trust Your Instincts

Welcome back to another month of our 12 Steps to Self-Care! This month, I’m talking about an often-overlooked yet invaluable tool: intuition.

When you know you know,

And, you don’t know how you know.

But, you know you know

And, you know you knew

And, that’s all you need to know!

While it’s not always easy or clear, our intuition can be a powerful tool for guiding us through life's twists and turns.

So let’s talk about the next step: Trust Your Instincts

Have you ever walked into a room and felt a sense of unease, only to later discover a valid reason for your discomfort? Or perhaps you've experienced that subtle nudge in the right direction when faced with a tough decision. These are the whispers of intuition, your instincts. They guide you every day toward what is right and away from what may harm you. Like silent guardians, they’re always watching over you and your well-being.

We often ignore our instincts in favor of logic or societal expectations, and I'm sure many of us can relate to moments where that choice led to regrettable outcomes. Personally, I recall a white water rafting adventure where every fiber of my being was screaming, “Don’t do it!” as I prepared to leap from a cliff into the river. Despite my intuition's warning, I plunged ahead, only to find myself swept away by the current. I went downriver about a quarter of a mile and was in the cold water for about 15 minutes before I was rescued. I was very lucky that I made it out okay, but it was a humbling reminder that our instincts are not to be ignored.

Albert Einstein once eloquently said, “The intuitive mind is a sacred gift, and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.” How true these words ring! The real gift is acknowledging that our intuition holds the keys to our deepest desires and greatest potential. When we embrace it, trust it, and allow it to lead us, we can find a life filled with clarity, purpose, and fulfillment. All we need to do is cultivate it.

So, how do we nurture and enhance our intuitive abilities? Firstly, we must be present in the moment, for intuition speaks louder when the mind is clear and focused. Maintaining a healthy balance in our brow chakra, the center of intuition, can also amplify our receptive faculties.

One fun and effective way to hone your intuition is by making it a game. For the next week, challenge yourself to notice simple items, colors, numbers, animals, or situations in your surroundings. Keep a journal and record how often you encounter these chosen elements each day. You'll be amazed at how heightened awareness translates into heightened intuition.

Remember, intuition is not meant to replace reason but to complement it. By integrating both faculties, we can make more informed and authentic decisions in our lives.

Trusting our instincts is not just an act of self-care; it's a sacred connection to our inner wisdom.

Stay tuned for next month when I talk about why you should Never Speak Bad About Yourself and the importance of manifesting through positive affirmations.
